METIS is a Horizon 2020 project whose mission is to develop and improve tools and methodologies employed in seismic safety assessments of nuclear reactors and translate this research into practice for industry use. The project will also develop common guidelines to facilitate periodic safety reviews, promote good practices under the Nuclear Safety Directive and enable risk-informed decision-making, and as a result, directly contribute to the safety and competitiveness of the European nuclear industry.
A series of nuclear projects funded under the Horizon 2020 Euratom programme and labelled by one of the SNETP pillars (NUGENIA, ESNII & NC2I) have recently kicked off (see list below).
The methods and tools innovations for seismic risk assessment (METIS) Horizon 2020 project has been officially launched after a recent virtual kick off meeting.
The METIS project kick-off meeting took place on the 29th and 30th of September 2020. Because of the ongoing pandemic and the risks associated with travelling, the meeting was held virtually. Though it was not the same as interacting face-to-face, partners were still able to engage with one another.
